The other machine. A Biellese industrialist and the affirmation of photography in Italy

19/11/2019 - Events

From today, Tuesday 19 November, the exhibition “The other machine. An industrialist from Biella and the affirmation of photography in Italy” will also be open during the week.

Thanks to the Sella Group it can be visited on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

The usual opening on Saturdays and Sundays remains unchanged from 10.00 to 19.00 (Biella, Maurizio Sella Wool Mill, via Corradino Sella 10).

The exhibition, which illustrates the work that Giuseppe Venanzio Sella dedicated to photography and its development in Italy in the nineteenth century can be visited at other times by appointment, by calling or writing to the Sella Foundation (015 2522445, fondazionesella@fondazionesella.org).

Since last Saturday the exhibition “The Maurizio Sella Wool Mill: a walk through the past, between past and future” has been opened, curated by Luigi Spina and Andrea Pivotto.

It is dedicated to the history of the building complex and its activities and is set up in the ancient Cappella del Lanificio (adjacent to “The other machine”, with the same hours).

The exhibition is part of the exhibition Biella, a portrait of a factory city: a narrative journey through images that takes place in five different locations, the Lanificio Maurizio Sella, Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto, Culture Space CR Biella Foundation, Chamber of Labor and Library of Città Studi.

In each place photographs are shown concerning the Biella identity linked to factories and textile work.

The event, organized by CGIL and the Documentation Center Adriano Massazza Gal of the Chamber of Labor of Biella, is part of the project “Historical Fabric of Biella“, led by the Province of Biella and supported by the Piedmont Region.
