The mountain that will be

On 28 and 29 September in Gli Orti de La Malpenga, 60 small producers will talk about the excellences of the fruit and vegetable productions of the Alps.

The focus of the event (admission: seven euros) will be the local area as a source of experimentation for many agricultural and tourist entrepreneurial initiatives: a series of meetings on the theme “The mountain that will be” explores a territory, the Alpine one, considered difficult, unsuitable for cultivation, almost wild and that now, with climate change underway, new technologies and managerial dynamics becomes fertile ground for agricultural excellence, breeding and gastronomy.

The meetings – organized by FAI Delegation of Biella and L’Ortoaccorto – will follow the program that is attached.

Gli orti de La Malpenga

On Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September 2019 there will be the 5th edition of the “ORTI DE LA MALPENGA – market show for the vegetable garden, the orchard of autumn and surroundings” organized in collaboration with the Piedmont Academy of the Garden of the FAI Biella Delegation, of Slow Food Biella and the Agricultural Institute “Vaglio Rubens” of Biella – IIS Gae Aulenti”.

The event will take place in the historical park of the “Villa La Malpenga” in Vigliano Biellese (BI) and in the adjacent vegetable garden and apple orchard and will be divided into three main areas:

– the first is represented by the market exhibition in which over sixty producers are selected who represent the excellence of local and not only local fruit and vegetable productions;

– the second is represented by the didactics that take place in the large demonstration garden and in the apple orchard with the support of the Professors and students of the Agricultural Institute;

– the third from conversations in the green, represented by a series of lectures and book presentations, from laboratories and tastings served in the restaurant during the event.

The 2019 edition will include the deepening of the mountain as a testing ground. Cultivate in the mountains, raise at high altitude, start new agricultural and tourist entrepreneurial initiatives: today, in many cases, the mountain is a land of research and innovation.

The event will therefore welcome some experienced exhibitors in this field, as well as explore through the green conferencesThe mountain that will be” different specific areas that concern it, from climate change, to agricultural and breeding excellence, from gastronomy, to new entrepreneurial dynamics .

BÜRSCH – The souls of the valley

“Valëtte” and “picapere”, “masche” and “siunere” are the characters who will tell the public, intent on following in the footsteps of a girl today, who finds herself spending a few days off in Valle Cervo.

In desperate and vain search of an area where her smartphone receives a semblance of signal, the girl, at first alien to the place, will stop perceiving it in a hostile way, thanks to the encounter with the deepest soul of the valley. This fact is manifested and speaks to her through the stories and characters that emerge from the pages of a book, left in her hands by a mysterious female figure, which seems to accompany her along her journey.

Born from an idea by Anna Bosazza and Danilo Craveia (authors of the texts) and inspired by the book written by Massimo Sella and dedicated to the Alta Valle Cervo, the show is a tribute to the “Bürsch”, its history, its characters and its traditions.

Appointment Saturday 21, Sunday 22 and Saturday 28 September (with the possibility of replication Sunday 29 September), Saturday from 20.30 to 22.30 and Sunday from 19.30 to 21.30.

#UNSACCODARACCONTARE

It was officially presented on September 17th and can be visited every day until September 30th 2019 – in the atrium of the Biella hospital – the photographic exhibition #UNSACCODARACCONTARE… around which gives the title to the European campaign created by the FAIS non-profit organization: the Federation of Italian Incontinent and Ostomate Associations.

Set up in the exhibition space, this exhibition is above all a possibility to turn the spotlight on the topic of ostomy. What is a stoma? Why the ostomy? Who is the ostomate? What prejudices must he face? What life does it lead? These are some of the questions at the base of a project born to give answers and which, somehow, saw these answers emerge from 14 shots and their protagonists.

Because the #UNSACCODARACCONTARE… campaign is strongly person-centered. The body tells a story lived between suffering and rebirth. Men and women – between the ages of two and eighty or ostomed – have responded to the public appeal launched on social media. Only two conditions: put the face and the abdomen with the bag clearly visible. They do it through exciting shots in which they appear with their abdomen uncovered and bag in sight and a phrase of theirs that best represents their condition today.

Inside the exhibition there is also a photo of a Biella patient who died prematurely, mother Fiorella, to whom Apistom Biella has dedicated the donation of a device in recent months.

Presentation of the book by Simona Sparaco

The Cassa di Risparmio di Biella Foundation, on the occasion of the exhibition “Father and Son. Ettore Pistoletto Olivero | Michelangelo Pistoletto”, promotes a calendar of meetings and in-depth initiatives on the themes proposed by the exhibition which includes interventions by personalities from the world of culture and business, but also educational workshops for schools and a film festival in collaboration with the National Museum of the Cinema of Turin.

The second evening appointment of three events united by the presence of important personalities related to literature and culture with free admission at Palazzo Gromo Losa in Biella, one of the three exhibition venues where it is possible to visit the exhibition, will be held on Thursday 19 September 2019 at 9.00 pm with the presentation of the new book by Simona Sparaco, In the silence of our words (DeA Planeta, 2019).

The novel, which is inspired by the terrible fire of the Grenfell Tower in London, deals with the relationship between parents and children facing the tragedy of a burning building within which the protagonists are imprisoned.

Simona Sparaco, already a finalist for the 2013 Strega Award with Nobody knows about us, will enter into dialogue with journalist Roberta Invernizzi. “In the silence of our words it is a plural and choral story about the distance between parents and children, between generations, between the past and the future, told with a fluid, sober and enveloping, delicate and careful writing“, commented Roberta Invernizzi.
