Skyrace Biella – Camino Mount

On Sunday 30 June 2019 the 19th edition of the Biella-Monte Camino skyrace will be held, organized by A.S.D. GSA Pollone (sports association that organizes skyrunning and trail running in the Elvo Valley and in the Oropa basin) of 23 km with 2,000 m. of positive gradient.

The BCM – which has become a must for the local skyrace circuit – will again be part of the 3C circuit (3 peaks) which involves two other important races: 28 July Mont Crabun and 15 September Ivrea – Mombarone, with a total of 55, 70 km traveled and 6,459 meters of positive gradient. Three companies located in three different realities and united together to enhance and try to lead each one to their own territory.

It starts from the center of the city towards the villages of the upper part of the Biellese, and then touches mountain landscapes until reaching the summit of 2,391 m. of the Monte Camino.

The last edition of the BMC has recorded a notable increase both of participants with important names also at international level, and of public.

“TO ME THE EYES”: the view must be preserved from an early age

TO ME THE EYES“: the view must be preserved from an early age and in the Province of Biella there is a project aimed at children, which only in the 2018/2019 school year underwent screening 3,317 pupils, of which:

921 of 4 years

1,170 of 6 years

– 1,226 of 11 years.

A synergy between the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired, and our Local Health Authority which is giving important results.

We have been collaborating with UICI [Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired] for many years – commented the ASL BI Commissioner, lawyer Diego Poggiofor the realization of this Project, which sees the ASL BI-optics protagonist in the phase of second-level controls in the Hospital, for those visits that result in possible pathologies. We are always at the side of the Union to guarantee this very important prevention service“.

The Regional President UICI Piemonte, Adriano Gilberti intervened to remember and thank the institutions and organizations that support the project: “The activity carried out in the 2018/2019 school year was completed thanks to the support of different realities present in the territory , like many Parishes of the Biellese, the Lions Biella Host, the Cassa di Risparmio di Biella Foundation, but also Municipalities and Organizations that have proved to be very sensitive to the issue. “X & Y”. In Biella, reflections on the generational confrontation between father and son

On Sunday 16 June, in the context of the cycle of initiatives of the exhibition “Father and Son“, a show will be held that will see the artists of Opificiodellarte and the students of the Art’è Danza school in Biella. For the occasion, the performance of the “Sphere of newspapers” is also scheduled.

At Palazzo Gromo Losa, the show entitled X & Y will be staged, which will be preceded by the Walking Sculpture performance.

The topics of the exhibition focused on Pistoletto and on his father Ettore Pistoletto Olivero will be addressed with a different language, that of dance: the show, in fact, will provide dancing reflections on the generational confrontation, specifically aimed at the one between father and son.

The show, as mentioned, will be anticipated by the performance of the Sphere of newspapers, already protagonist last April 29th with the performance Walking Sculpture – by the Office of Learning Environments and Schools of Cittadellarte – which saw the participation of the students of the art school Sella and of the ITC Eugenio Bona.

Pollone from the sky

Now in its 9th edition, the “Pollone from the sky” festival will take place on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 June, with hot air balloons on both holidays, a helicopter for tourist flights that will fly on Sundays and kites for the fun of the smaller.

The musical evening on Saturday, after dinner with an Alpine grill, will see the Biella-based band Radiorock perform on stage.

The “Sunday market” includes 40 benches for hobbyists, non-profit organizations and other exhibitors. Guests will be the stand of the group “Asilo Frassati” of Pollone, of the “Piccoli Artigiani” workshop that will present their works inviting those present to participate in the works, and of the “Mani di Donna” hobbyists, with the participation of 15 hobbyists.

At the PalaFenoglio, the cultural part of the event, the exhibition “North Pole from Heaven” will be present; a shuttle will be available to get there.

For the little ones, there will be a section of the “Courtyard Games“, which will include 60 gaming stations positioned in the square. You can interact with all the games of the past, made entirely of wood, to entertain children of all ages in total safety, handing down the value and importance of traditions.

The first Third Paradise made at sea with plastic waste

In recent days, a series of events took place in Sicily, starring Michelangelo Pistoletto: the master received an honorary degree conferred by the Academy of Fine Arts in Catania, held a lectio magistralis and completed a work of art. collective art of the Third Paradise.

Denounce pollution from marine plastic waste in the Mediterranean, celebrate the transformative power of art as a gesture of collective responsibility, affirm an alternative vision of the Mediterranean sea no longer only associated with migratory flows, but as the heart of our civilization and window of Europe on the world: these are, in summary, the objectives of the project-event “A sea of ​​plastic“, which took place in Catania.

The activities were held during the World Environment Day (June 5) and the numerous mobilization and awareness-raising initiatives that are affecting Italy and the whole world.

The artistic-social initiative is promoted by the OELLE Mediterraneo Antico Foundation, to which the entrepreneur Ornella Laneri – with a new governance – gives her own imprinting in 2017 in order to enhance the historical, artistic, cultural and environmental heritage of the Mediterranean; everything through the languages ​​of art, the recovery of civic memory and corporate social responsibility.

The installation of the Third Paradise, the heart of the project-event, curated by Cesare Biasini Selvaggi and Carmelo Nicosia, is the trinamic symbol of Michelangelo Pistoletto: in Catania, in fact, the Third Paradise was created for the first time at sea with plastic waste recovered from the marine environment.

Sow community 2.0

The first joint social call is on the way: three of the main social actors in Biella, the Cassa di Risparmio di Biella Foundation, Simetica Bank and the Diocese of Biella have decided to unite to create the new “Sow community 2.0” call for entries which will be officially presented next 17 June at Gromo Losa Palace and will open on June 18th.

The social entrepreneur Johnny Dotti, who was the testimonial of the project, spoke about it from the Vitamina B stage, the great event dedicated to the good that took place over the weekend.

Purpose of the project is to inspire new territorially coordinated social policies aimed at countering or preventing situations of economic hardship and the margins that affect ever larger categories of the Biella population.

Meeting with Paolo Cognetti at Gromo Losa Palace

The writer Paolo Cognetti is the protagonist of the evening event of the collateral show at the exhibition “Father and Son. Ettore Olivero Pistoletto | Michelangelo Pistoletto” entitled “The mountain of the fathers, the mountain of sons“.

The winner of Il Premio Strega 2017 with the novel “Otto Montagne” will talk with the curator of the exhibition Alberto Fiz and with the journalist of Il Sole 24 ORE Stefano Salis, using the mountains as a new interpretation of the “father and son” theme from one side, and the strong influence that the Biella area has had on those who visit and inhabit it, including Ettore Pistoletto Olivero and his son Michelangelo, but also Ermenegildo Zegna, who was able to grasp and enhance the land potential.

DocBimbi starts again !!

The cycle of easy walks for families with children, arrives this year at the twelfth edition.

DocBimbi – initiative organized by DocBi – Biellese study center (thanks to the efforts of Emilio Sulis, Manuela Vinai, Giorgia Monetta and Luca Fracassi) in collaboration with the Biellese Apiarist Association and with the support of Banca Simetica – intends to propose an afternoon of discovery of Biellese, to learn, by playing, new and simple aspects of our territory, with the help of qualified guides and animators.

The first appointment is set for Sunday 16 June with the excursion to discover the Rosazza Gallery.

The meeting is scheduled at 3.15 pm at the entrance to the Rosazza Gallery, on the slope of Oropa, with the possibility of parking cars.

At 3.30 pm departure of the walk to discover the road linking the Oropa Valley and the Cervo Valley, with the gallery at 1,488 meters above sea level 367 meters long.

We will walk along the easy path that reaches the Campello di Campiglia Cervo alp, attended in the summer months by shepherds with their herds and by hikers.

Parents will be accompanied by Gianni Valz Blin and there will be entertainment for children.

At 5.00 pm at the Antica Locanda Galleria Rosazza, a free snack based on organic fruit juices and Biella bread and honey will be offered by DocBi.
