Mixed fried

The exhibition “Mixed fried” opens on Saturday 14 December 2019 at 18.30 at the Zaion Gallery (Salita di Riva 3, Ex Pria Wool Mill, Biella).

Almost four years after his first solo show titled “MORF”, the duo of urban artists HOWLERS composed by Gioele Bertin and Francesca Melina returns from Zaion Gallery Biella with a solo show whose title is a whole program: “MIXED FRIED. A metaphor of the contemporary identity“.

The Mixed fried exhibit aims to focus on the characteristics of identity building today and the role of orientation that the individual has assumed in our society. The attempt is to give a non-simplifying vision of the reality that surrounds us every day and to do it through metaphors.

The aim that the artists hope to achieve is to place themselves both critically and proactively as mere narrators of an increasingly fragmented, fast and confused newspaper. The two urban artists have ventured into the production of a cycle of works that represent unconventional mixed fried foods that want to become a representation of this reality: of various kinds and different nature, they enjoyed mixing elements apparently in contrast with each other but, held together by the fry binder, they create a unique and decidedly cloying taste.

CONSTELLATION. Ready, departure … space!

Appointment Sunday, December 15th at 4.30pm at the Opificiodellarte theater (Via De Agostini 7, Biella) for the third event of the “Famiglie a teatro” (Families at the theater) exhibition promoted and supported by the Cassa di Risparmio di Biella Foundation and organized by the non-profit organization Teatro ragazzi e giovani e Opificiodellarte in collaboration with the Piedmont Region, Municipality of Biella, Il Contato del Canavese, Piemonte dal Vivo Foundation, Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities.

A show dedicated to the discovery of the Universe. An imaginative and playful journey that starts from the Earth to go to the stars.

After years and years of studies and observations of space, Professor Radar wakes up in that much desired dream. Together with professors Bussola and Calamita, he finally puts into action the invention of the century: the Space Pram, an extraordinary invention to find a place similar to the earth. Through this journey between planets and celestial bodies we will live the dance of the constellations: luminous points in the sky, apparently close to each other but really distant millions and millions of light years, different points of view united in the eyes of those who observe them.

In the context of “Famiglie a teatro”, a fundraiser was organized for the Edo and Elvo Tempia Foundation: during theatrical performances it will be possible to buy scarves made in the laboratories of GenomicArt (Genomics and Art Therapy laboratories) of the Tempia Foundation and the proceeds will be used for small cancer patients.

GenomicArt is a path for meeting and rediscovering cells through art and colors, created by the Genomics and Art Therapy laboratories of the Edo and Elvo Tempia Foundation.

Vivid images of scientific magazine covers depicting cells and other elements invisible to the naked eye have been reproduced on 12 canvases, painted in their spare time by researchers and therapists.

Art and science have also met in some of the Biella Middle Schools, where students have painted other scientific images from the laboratory, along with their teachers.

The digital images of these small works were used to make gadgets to support the projects of the Edo and Elvo Tempia Foundation. Some of them have been chosen and reinterpreted for the creation of collections in limited editions, entirely Made in Biella, in support of cancer research.

The Genomics laboratory is engaged in projects in the oncology field to characterize tumors, in order to anticipate their diagnosis and improve therapies. He collaborates with numerous Italian and international research centers (https://www.fondazionetempia.org/laboratorio-di-genomica/).

The Art Therapy laboratory is aimed at cancer patients undergoing treatment or follow-up and for minors, to support them in the development of mourning and illness. In this space, through the artistic material, you can give shape and color to your emotions, even the most difficult to express in words. The activity proposed to children is part of the broader “Children Project”, created to support families affected by cancer (https://www.fondazionetempia.org/assistenza-famiglie/).

BIELLAINSIEME

The new Internet portal www.biellainsieme.it, the database with over 1,500 local organizations, is ready to be launched on the web. The site documents the realities of the non-profit organization of Biella: associations, foundations, social workers and groups. The new project was presented in the boardroom of Palazzo Oropa, on the morning of Wednesday 11 December.

Biellainsieme has its roots since the mid-1990s, when Informagiovani from the Municipality of Biella began to build a database to fully document the non-profit organization in the Biella area. The first Internet site was created in 2007 and today its complete graphic restyling is ready, which has made consultation more intuitive and possible to access from mobile devices, now widely used by everyone and in particular by young people.

The new site, created by SoftPlace Web srl of Biella, is ready to disseminate information on over 1,500 realities, with attention to the organizational structures and the proposed activities and services offered. 374 sports associations are included, 337 companies operating in the field of solidarity and health. And again from the world of associations: 305 included in culture, art and philosophy, 285 for leisure and tourism, 144 for education and education, 105 for the environment and ecology, 93 for weapon and partisan combat associations, 70 religion.

Biellainsieme is a means destined to evolve and be more and more a reference to know the territory, starting point to act in any field in particular for cultural, educational, social operators, but in general for all citizens.

Biellainsieme can be used by a citizen to: look for associations that offer educational, cultural and sports activities; to know who is involved in volunteering for the elderly, disabled or disadvantaged people, children, or to protect the environment or animals; to look for reference of social cooperatives, club, pro loco and meeting centers.

Biellainsieme can be used by an association to: spread information about its activities; look for other realities that operate in sectors of interest to carry out initiatives; look for partners to participate in calls for funding that involve projects on the net.

On the site it is also possible to consult the sociological analyzes carried out in 2007 by dr. Bruno Guglielminotti and in 2019 from the Q.R.S study: the latter deals with a reading of the database starting from the current situation and observing the changes that have occurred in the last ten years and proposes a study on youth associations.

In the coming months, the fields necessary to make the database compliant with the provisions of the Third Sector Reform will be included in Biella and Informagiovani will undertake to update the information to align itself with the objective of having information dating back to the last two years.

Biellainsieme is a project shared by the territory from the beginning: Service Center for Volunteering, Province and the Cassa di Risparmio di Biella Foundation participated in its construction and construction of the first site built in 2007, making financial contributions available in the past.

In 2019 the management is managed by the Municipality of Biella with the collaboration of the Anteo social cooperative and with the contribution of the Territorial Center for Volunteering and the CRB Foundation, which has always continued to support the initiative.

BEYOND THE BOUNDARIES OF THE TRIP: THE MAN AND THE MOON

Note A Margine presents BEYOND THE BORDERS OF THE TRIP: THE MAN AND THE MOON Thursday 12 December at 9.00 pm at Palazzo Ferrero. Meeting by Barbara Masoni and Stefano Minola.

As in 2017, Note A Margine, the project by Stefano Minola between music and literature with Barbara Masoni, reserves for the “Travel – Horizons, Frontiers, Generations” event, this year at its third edition, a very special meeting dedicated to the moon, whose conquest has always been, from well before the landing of 50 years ago, in our imaginary of travelers.

The enigmatic presence of the moon in the night also leads us, however, to travel within ourselves, coming to represent in some way the most hidden side of our soul. This is why, in artists, the moon has always stimulated the poetic faculty of imagination, solicits the consolation of poetry, induces the composition of introspective and melancholic music … It will therefore be the mystery of the moon that leads the personal journey of Note A Margine , as usual between words and music.

Nature and archeology: the Biella parks

The project Nature and archeology: the Biella parks. Baraggia, Bessa, Burcina is closely related and completes the project “Ancient Civilizations: the man in Burcina” already co-financed by the Ticino and Lake Maggiore Protected Areas Management Authority and by the Cassa di Risparmio di Biella Foundation.

The objective is to put the Biella naturalistic heritage under the hat of archeology and therefore of culture: Baraggia di Candelo, Bessa and Burcina.

The project actions concerned the continuation of archaeological investigations at the Burcina Park and the carrying out of surveys, surveys and studies on rock carvings concerning all three areas of Biella. The results were very interesting and validated by the Superintendence of Archeology, Fine Arts and Landscape, a design partner who constantly oversaw the scientific direction of all the actions that were implemented, in the persons of Dr. Archeologist Lucia Mordeglia and Dr. Archeologist Elisa Lanza.

Dr. Archaeologist Matteo Aspesi who conducted the verification of the archaeological interest of the “erratic boulder present in Burcina” considered “sustainable the symbolic-functional vocation of the boulder present in Burcina Park” and therefore worthy of a specific study.

The Archaeologist Dr. Antonella Gabutti who conducted archaeological assistance to the surveys of stratigraphic assessment on the basis of which 3 surveys gave positive results: “pole holes and a hearth were found, an abundance of ceramic fragments and the recovery of a millstone saddle testify to the past presence on the hill of the Burcina Park of a settlement dating from the ceramic material to the final Bronze / Iron start. The hypothesis of a work worthy of further study is that of the existence of a hut with a built-in base“.

In addition to the purely study and research actions, a short geo-archaeological guide of the protected areas at the foot of the Biellesi Alps was carried out in parallel, by Dr. Archaeologist Angela Deodato.

Finally, 3 video clips were produced, each lasting 4.00 / 5.00 minutes, informative and suggestive with information gathered by Prospettiva Nevsky Prospect, by Manuele Cecconello with the collaboration of dronist Roberto Tacca and Roberto Ramella.
