The Ambassador of Namibia welcomed by President Mattarella

On Thursday 14 November 2019 Albertus Aochamub, Ambassador of Namibia to the Italian Republic, presented his Letters of Credence to Sergio Mattarella, President of the Italian Republic in Rome.

This will enable the two countries to further cement their already existing cordial bilateral relations in many areas of mutual interest.

It was also an opportunity for the new Ambassador to present the start of the collaboration between Namibia and the city of Biella thanks to the network of UNESCO Creative Cities.

The Piedmontese Foundations gathered at Casa Zegna to celebrate

The meeting of the Board of Directors of the Piedmontese Foundations took place on November 14th at the Sala Zegna of Casa Zegna, celebrating the entrance of Biella into the “Unesco Creative Cities” network.

To welcome the Presidents and Secretaries of the Piedmontese Foundations and their collaborators the President of the Cassa di Risparmio di Biella Foundation Franco Ferraris who did the honors telling the extraordinary story of the Biella textile industry and the elements of creativity at the base of the success of the city.

The location chosen for Ettore Olivero Pistoletto’s father, father of the most famous Michelangelo and recently enhanced in the exhibition “Father and son” is particularly evocative and appreciated.

To decorate the room the symbol of the Third Paradise that identifies Biella creative declined in flowers and images to witness a 360° Biellese creativity also in the field of hospitality. During the day, guests were also able to visit the Zegna Wool Mill, one of the most significant textile world excellence.

Biella fully deserves the Unesco recognition – the President of the CRT Foundation Giovanni Quaglia commented to TG Rai’s microphones – the Piedmontese Foundations are happy to have contributed to this result which has brought to three the number of Piedmontese cities included in the network. Now we have to work united for new collaborations“.

President Ferraris was also very satisfied, proud of the work carried out by the Foundation that promoted and coordinated the project and the success achieved thanks to a cohesive team composed of the Municipality of Biella, Cittadellarte – Pistoletto Foundation and the Foundation itself, with the advice of the Bia Srl.

Zaccheo Award to Franco Ferraris

The Cassa di Risparmio di Biella Foundation is pleased to announce the conferral to the President Franco Ferraris of the Zaccheo Prize by the Biellese section of UCID – Christian Association of Entrepreneurs Executives during the annual conference organized Saturday, November 23 at the Biverbanca Conference Room from Association and dedicated to aspects of the social and economic life of the Biella area.

The Zaccheo award – born 14 years ago by the UCID section of Biella – is a recognition to entrepreneurs or professionals who in the course of their normal professional activity have shown attention to social and community problems, consistent with Christian values.

It takes its name from the evangelical character Zaccheus who was a superintendent of tax collectors in Judea, called by Jesus during a visit to a village in Palestine, and invited to his table. It therefore symbolizes the encounter between Christian values ​​and economy.

The award has so far been awarded to 14 subjects including entrepreneurs and professionals as well as associations; this year Dr. Franco Ferraris has received it, in relation to the commitments shown in his professional, social and associative life, in favor of the community. In his career as a manager he has in fact always shown attention to Christian values ​​and corporate social responsibility, values ​​that also characterize his presidency at the Cassa di Risparmio di Biella Foundation.

The award – given to Ferraris by the President of UCID, Vittorio Donati – consists, in addition to a parchment, in a valuable icon, made specifically, an element that represents a synthesis between religious values, history and art. This year’s icon represents the Christ Pantocrator.

In his speech, President Ferraris spoke of Biella Creative City, describing the candidacy path.

Biella Creative City protagonist of the Rai traveling news program

Saturday, November 16, Biella Creative City was broadcast on the RAI TG Itinerant.

During the first edition, broadcast at 2 pm, some of the protagonists of the Management Team who followed the candidacy path were interviewed. From the terrace of Palazzo Gromo Losa, Federica Chilà, head of the Communication Office of the Cassa di Risparmio di Biella Foundation, who recounted how the path “began with a great journey of the territory united towards a goal that seemed almost unattainable” from Pollenzo to Paris Biellese excellence has shown itself in all its beauty. “In this journey the contribution of the Pistoletto Foundation with Maestro Pistoletto was indispensable, as well as having donated the symbol of the Third Paradise which is the symbol of the candidacy”. This is just the beginning of a journey.

Then the mayor Claudio Corradino spoke: “The whole territory, without exception, worked towards this goal. […] Biella is a beautiful city and must be made available to our nation. Trains and motorways will be one of the next goals of my mandate as well as ensuring that work is carried out in Biella also thanks to the UNESCO circuit because the history of textiles, our excellence, we must transform into work. ”

In the 7.30pm edition, the live broadcast was made from the Literature and Industry Prize, and for the occasion Carlo Piacenza, President of the Industrial Union of Biella was interviewed.

Studi e ricerche sul Biellese

Friday, November 29th, at the Civic Library of Biella (co-working room) from 5.00 pm, the bulletin 2019 “Studi e ricerche sul Biellese” will be presented.

This is the 34th edition of the yearbook that the DocBi has published since its foundation in 1985.

The eleven contributions hosted in the book will be illustrated by the authors present, coordinated by Marcello Vaudano. The event is organized in collaboration with the Civic Library.

The other machine. A Biellese industrialist and the affirmation of photography in Italy

From today, Tuesday 19 November, the exhibition “The other machine. An industrialist from Biella and the affirmation of photography in Italy” will also be open during the week.

Thanks to the Sella Group it can be visited on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

The usual opening on Saturdays and Sundays remains unchanged from 10.00 to 19.00 (Biella, Maurizio Sella Wool Mill, via Corradino Sella 10).

The exhibition, which illustrates the work that Giuseppe Venanzio Sella dedicated to photography and its development in Italy in the nineteenth century can be visited at other times by appointment, by calling or writing to the Sella Foundation (015 2522445, fondazionesella@fondazionesella.org).

Since last Saturday the exhibition “The Maurizio Sella Wool Mill: a walk through the past, between past and future” has been opened, curated by Luigi Spina and Andrea Pivotto.

It is dedicated to the history of the building complex and its activities and is set up in the ancient Cappella del Lanificio (adjacent to “The other machine”, with the same hours).

The exhibition is part of the exhibition Biella, a portrait of a factory city: a narrative journey through images that takes place in five different locations, the Lanificio Maurizio Sella, Cittadellarte – Fondazione Pistoletto, Culture Space CR Biella Foundation, Chamber of Labor and Library of Città Studi.

In each place photographs are shown concerning the Biella identity linked to factories and textile work.

The event, organized by CGIL and the Documentation Center Adriano Massazza Gal of the Chamber of Labor of Biella, is part of the project “Historical Fabric of Biella“, led by the Province of Biella and supported by the Piedmont Region.
