The Biellese protagonist at Geo & Geo

Tuesday 3 December, starting at 6:00 pm, an appointment on RAI TRE with Geo & Geo: the documentary “Back to nature” will be aired, with the Biella expert Lucio Bordignon and the director from Cagliari Davide Mocci.

It is the fourth time that Lucio Bordignon is the protagonist of a naturalistic documentary broadcast by Geo & Geo: the first time he presented a documentary on the black stork, the second spoke of the custody of the natural parks and the third of the Biella Baraggia.

This time the theme is the environmental restoration of several ex-mines of the Minerali Industriali Group, of which Lucio is the coordinator of the restorations.

In the work of Mocci – says Lucio Bordignon – we illustrate the restoration of vegetation on the lands stripped of the excavations, with the earth being re-sheltered through the laying of georetes, to avoid erosion. Then the sowing of the grass, by hand or with hydro-seedling, a special machine that sprays the seed together with liquid fertilizer. The mixtures of the seeds – specifies better Lucio – vary from area to area, to adapt them to different conditions. Where we want to favor butterflies and pollinating insects like bees, – continues the biellese expert of nature – along with the grass, wild flowers are also sown. After the grass, bushes and plants are planted. The arrangement of the vegetation is made to art, so that it can be useful for the settlement of wildlife, for example by recreating thorny hedges that can serve as a refuge for birds and small mammals. In the design, small ponds are also formed to host aquatic fauna. After a few years the environment is so well reconstructed that we no longer notice that in that place there was a mining activity“.

Davide Mocci wanted to highlight the importance of Bordignon’s training, born in the countryside following the distant knowledge handed down by his father Antonio and gradually perfected by adding the technical knowledge of modern naturalistic bioengineering. Lucio in turn taught his knowledge to his daughter Alice, an agronomist, creating a very united and productive team, both inside and outside the home. For this reason, the director considered it particularly significant to include some sections of Lucio’s life with his family while they take care of the vegetable garden, make wine and eat food from their land.

Dead Poets Society with Ettore Bassi

This evening, Monday 2nd December 2019 at 8.45 pm at the Sociale Villani Theater in Biella Ettore Bassi, in the role of prof. Keating, will revive the excitement of the masterpiece “Dead Poets Society“, a love story for poetry, for free thought, for life.

That love that makes us help others to excel, not according to the structured and imposed social dictates but following their passions, impulses, magnificent and sometimes irrational impulses. Following those Yawp who push a man to fight to conquer the beloved woman, to do things to reach the roofs of the world, to fight for justice with non-violence.

Tom Schulman has written an extraordinary story of ties, relationships and encounters that change men deep down. Still today, thirty years after the film debut, “Dead Poets Society” represents a milestone in the experience of thousands of people around the world.

Bringing to the stage the story of the young students of the Welton Academy and of their meeting with Professor Keating means giving new life to these bonds, renewing that experience in those who have a strong memory of the film and make it discover to those new generations who, perhaps, have not yet seen this story told on the big screen and still do not know “that the powerful show continues, and that you can contribute with a verse”.

The direction is by Marco Iacomelli.

Urology of Biella leader in north-eastern Piedmont

It is also thanks to the Olmium laser that the complex structure of Urology of the Biella Hospital has achieved gratifying results, becoming the sixth ward in Piedmont and the first in the north-eastern quadrant for the surgical treatment of prostatic hypertrophy.

The result is sanctioned by the National Outcomes Plan, the tool of the Ministry of Health which provides assessments on the effectiveness, fairness, safety and appropriateness of treatments throughout the Italian territory. And it comes two years after donating to the ASL of Biella the equipment, the result of one of the many investments in public health made by the Tempia Foundation and the Cassa di Risparmio di Biella Foundation.

The type of laser is a high-power, latest generation device, which allows above all to treat urinary calculi and prostatic hypertrophy, two extremely widespread conditions in the population. In the first two years after its entry into service, 630 interventions were carried out and included those for the treatment of some urinary tract cancers and urethral strictures.

Città Studi Academy course “Biella that works”

The closing ceremony of the Città Studi Academy was held yesterday, November 28 in the white room of Città Studi, with the presentation of attendance certificates to the course for the 11 women participating in the presence of the President of Città Studi, of the President of the Consortium Il Filo da Tessere and of the representatives of the Foundations supporting the project.

Representing an integrated structure to meet the needs of the Territory with regard to training is one of the mission of Città Studi Biella which carries out its activities with commitment and dedication and, where its mission also has a social implication, the value is certainly greater.

For this reason Città Studi wanted to fully support the project “Biella that works“, whose purpose is not only to try to reduce unemployment but also to support those who find themselves in more unfavorable positions than others.

The project “Biella that works” dealt with the job placement of women in difficulty, thanks to the concrete support of the Città Studi Academy, through the activation of an ad hoc mending course. The project was strongly supported by the Il Filo da Tessere Consortium and was financially supported by the Cassa di Risparmio di Biella Foundation and the Caraccio Foundation and saw its concrete realization in Città Studi.

Lucilla Giagnoni in the “Magnificat”

Lucilla Giagnoni, with her Magnificat will be at the Erios theater on Saturday 30 November, at 9.00 pm. The show, with the sponsorship and support of the Municipality of Vigliano Biellese, is the result of a proposal by the Voci di Donne Association, with the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Biella Foundation.

Free admission offer, with fundraising for victims of violence. The occasion is to reflect, in a profound and innovative way on the female figure, just a few days before the International Day against Violence against Women, which falls as is known on November 25th.

The Magnificat, prayer and ancient poetry, contains within itself the deepest sense of humility, together with praise, thanksgiving, service. “My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior because He has looked upon the humility of His servant“. Just because Serva (servant) is a Lady and Queen. Virgin, Mother.

Lucilla Giagnoni writes: «Perhaps, this is an answer: the Generations, that is the History, that is our action, must henceforth recognize all this. Only if the “Feminine” re-emerges from the Earth, there will be a possibility for everyone of future coexistence, not only in survival, but in bliss, that is, in happiness.

I used verbs to the future because maybe I am still tied to the logic of the masculine, there are “maidens / princesses” instead, who, as the chronicle tells us almost every day, all over the world are already waking up, they already shake the powerful from the thrones, they already work to save the earth with the care and government of female hands and minds. Finally“.

I sincerely thank the Association of Voci di Donne – says Mayor Cristina Vazzoler who also brings to Vigliano the undisputed talent of Lucilla Giagnoni: with her show she keeps the light on the world of women and on the violence they suffer every day. It is important to keep attention focused on the phenomenon, to focus on contrasting educational and cultural initiatives, to build the foundations of a society capable of rejecting gender-based violence, and to thank all the volunteers on a daily basis, in listening centers and in protected facilities. they deal with supporting the victims and giving them a chance to get out of the distressing spiral of violence.
